Various Coventina's Well is a compilation CD from Celtic MP3 Music Magazine and has a combination of familiar Celtic artists as well as festival performers. As such, with artists such as Steve Holloway (Riverdance) and Emerald Rose, it is truly a remarkable album. Being a Celtic album as opposed to a festival album, there aren't too many faire folke on the CD. Still, there are some great tracks. Brobdinagian Bards provide the "Mermaid Song". Always a festival favorite, this version is slickly produced and the background crashing of waves is a great touch...without being overdone. If you haven't heard Brobdinagian Bards play before, this is a perfect introduction to their sound. Artist Nancy Daily Green provides a clear link to the past with her track "Baiden Fheidhlimidh". Combining her vocals with hammered dulcimer and concertina she provides a refreshing track full of traditional Irish flavor. It is truly no wonder that she was voted Kansas City Renaissance Festival's Best Individual Musical Performer in 2003. Again, for those unfamiliar with her work, this track should provide enough motivation to begin hunting down her other recordings. For those looking for a great CD sampler? Look no further. With groups like "Emerald Rose", "Exzile" and more, this CD stands out as a true Celtic music compilation that has faire folks on it. Of course the casual listener might be hard pressed to determine who are Ren Folke and who aren't. That says more about the artists on this CD than anything else. Each artist manages to hold their own and it makes for a wonderful CD. The CD is $7.97 from CD Baby.
