Marc Gunn
Marc Gunn is one of the most prolific festival musicians in the history of the genre and one might think that would be enough for one man. As a recording artist it seems that he's appeared on more albums than most people own. From his work with partner Andrew McKee (as the Brobdinagian Bards), to solo recordings Marc keeps a breakneck recording schedule and never lets a little thing like touring actually stop him from his other projects Besides his work as a musician, Marc Gunn makes another, massive contribution to the festival music scene. As the creator and host of the Renaissance Festival Music Podcast, Marc gives airplay to a wide number of festival musicians. This service allows people to discover a wide number of artists and learn where they are playing next. Always on the bleeding edge of the festival music scene, the Renaissance Festival Music Podcast is an important contribution to the community as a whole. The podcast is also home to the annual Renaissance Festival Awards (the "Rennies") and if Marc's work stopped there, that would still make him an amazing asset to the community. Certainly enough to make us number him among our featured artists. But seeing as there are 24 hours in a day, Marc doesn't waste any of them. After the horror of Hurricane Katrina, we at Modern Bard contacted Marc Gunn with the idea of putting together a compilation CD to raise funds for the Red Cross relief efforts. Marc didn't just support the idea or assist, Marc took on the Herculean task of producing and distributing the album. Without his efforts, "Circle" never would've happened. Marc is a tireless supporter of Festival music, Celtic music and a wide array of musicians. He deserves a thank you from the entire genre, and this is ours.
