FAQ
1) Is "Modern
Bard" a store? No. We do have links to several
stores in our listings though. We aren't in the business of
selling music, we only help you find it.
2) What sort of artists can
I find on "Modern Bard"? You can find quite a
few types of artists here, and all of them perform at, or have
performed at a re-enactment festival or SCA event. If they move
on to new artistic arenas? We'll still follow them. If your
favorite faire group puts out a heavy metal album or has a punk
album in their past? We'll try to let you know about it. 3)
What about out of print recordings? Currently there is no
real source for out of print recordings and we here at
"Modern Bard" discourage the bootlegging of albums. We
are hoping that eventually we might be able to offer once out of
print albums on a "burn on demand" basis, allowing
musicians to put their backlist in the hands of new fans. That
is something for the future however and is not something being
offered at this time. We are now hosting a few out of print
albums for download with the permission of the artists. 4)
Where did this list come from? This list was pieced
together after scouring the internet. Listings were found and
tracked down from Renaissance Faire websites, Yahoo Groups,
personal webpages, band webpages, and our personal archives. Now
that the site is up, information continues to pour in thanks to
people like yourself who are sending us information from their
collections to add to what we already have. 5)
How do I become a "Featured Artist"? There is
no set method to how our Featured Artist is selected or even how
long they will remain on the front page. There is only one
requirement, the artist MUST have an album available for
sale that we can link to. After all, if we are going to tell you
all about an artist, we want you to be able to buy their music.
To us, that seems only fair(e).
6) You really don't make
any money from this? Nope. No sales, no advertising,
nothing. Donations of music and information are always
appreciated though.
